Family Tree

Family Tree

A Poem by Baylin Snow

I am a branch protruding from their structure.

They never let go when i'm being blown violently in the wind

and there to help when my end snaps off.

Even so that is only idealist.

I am a dead twig barely hanging on.

Teenage attitude pulls me down while they look away.

Ready to hand me off at a moments notice.

Still not quite right and dramatically exaggerated.

I am the long limb in the shadows

trying desparately to disconnect.

Shaking the rest in my attempts.

This is the reality I stand in.
