An Explanation of InsideA Poem by Baylin SnowToday, if you asked me for an explanation of my mind, you wouldn't recieve an answer you expected such a happy girl to give. I'll explain it to you as if you're there, with just a little imagination, you'll understand.
You see my exterior walls, barriers remaining unbroken, yet a few cracks in the surface create one hole. One hole you cleverly find. You squeeze, duck, maneuver around until your body slides in then back out the other side. Intimidating paths extending miles on end fill your vision with midnight black air, full of bushes, haunted corn maze-esque. You'll continue to walk on thru, a cheerful sight has this inticing charm. So undeniable. Abandoned houses sit lifelessly to the side, reassuring you- You Are Alone. One particular house, cheer hidden in the middle of gloom, invites you in- you recognize this cheerfulness; charm to be mine. Doors mysteriously open in sync upon entering. You will feel ecstatic you weasled your way in until the astonishment kicks in of what is in front of you. The concrete floors are bumpy, filled with mud holding holes. Caution: Watch Your Step Walls are everywhere, however not visible behind the broken glass frames holding a once happy family, blood stains, and tear drops. Door frames are cut periodically Some with locked doors, others with nothing. A few with broken bars. You still have this genuine happiness about you- guys from the broken barred doors will soon slash it. Each door has a clearly marked label, informing you of its purpose. You'll find me in the room marked 'happiness'. It is farthest away and closed for renovations. I still sit there, huddled in the only part of the room that remains as joyful as rainbows and unicorns.
I am in a war with myself, dark shadows of my mind, ghosts that still haunt me. But still, undefeated. © 2008 Baylin SnowReviews
