Lonely Nights

Lonely Nights

A Poem by Baylin Snow

The room is in black out-

whether your eyes are open or shut,

nothing will be seen.

Small specs of light poke thru the thick

polka dot comforter that covers

a shaking lump.

Looking closer

underneath the thick blankets

light illuminates an abandoned poem,

words scribbled across the page,

tear drops scattered around,

blurring the blue lines that once were evenly spaced.

A young girl lies tensely

wrapped up in a tight ball.

She inhales and exhales all too fast

for her body to handle.

Hot tears fall from her tightly

shut eyes onto

paper; the matress

forming a small puddle underneath.

Her short, harsh breaths have

words intermixed-

scolding herself as if another person.

So many thoughts,

so many tears,

so many mistakes,

only one regret.

a fervent mix of creativity and emotional color that creates an image of surrendering to pondering thought.
Nice job.
