Chaotic PeaceA Poem by Baylin SnowSitting silently in an absurdly loud room My back leans against a pillar, a partial section of the concrete frame completed by large glass windows. Chaos erupts around me, cheerful chatter innocent screams the pitter-patter of tiny feet unwanted flashes from cameras. On my left is a photographic scene- many sharks and tuna swim by with graceful elegance next to a taste from the tropics that go by name Cartwright and Willis Unwanted glares exchanged from impatient adults to a silent me sitting in a chaotic peace Polite smiles cross my lips, a shake of the head when they turn away. Sweets hello's are said to me by munchkins who are enthusiastically welcoming their surroundings Irritating shouts fill the room once again by rowdy children, frustrated parents, and wannabe mature teenagers. The families of visitors come and go I tune out the chaos when they come let a sigh of relief go in the peace when they are gone My attention focus's onmy notebook light reflecting in the water leaves ripples to dance across the page I write with cheer in the zen room until I must leave to enter the bitter cold noisy world I unknowingly scavenge for a zen moment only that chaotic peace can give me © 2008 Baylin Snow |
