Meet V

     “Jezzi! Come on, if headmaster finds out we left the search party will be out before we make it to the portals.” Kamrin whispered.

 

     “Kam, your crazy, you know that?” I laughed as we crossed the school yard as quietly as possible. “Besides, I thought you said there was no way they would wake up. Some spell you did.”

 

     “Yeah, about that... I had to get you to come with me..” She stopped and looked at me, looking as guilty as ever.

 

     “Kam! You.. Why would you lie to me.. I can't believe I’m out here and we could get caught any minuet..” I started to turn back for the school but Kam grabbed my arm.

 

     “Jezzi please don't leave. You have to come with me.” I looked around, we were about ten feet from the gates. It was nearing midnight, which was when the portals opened for the world we want to go to. I looked back at the school and sighed.

 

     “Let's go. We are gonna miss our chance if we don't get there now.” Kamrin laughed and grabbed my hand.

 

     “Thank you Jezzi!” We ran to the gates and crawled underneath them then raced for the portals. Time was moving quickly and we were about to miss our chance to enter the portals for the Mystic Lake.

 

            As we came up to the portals I slowed down to look for a clock. “Hey Kam, what time is it? I think it may be past time for our jump.”

 

     “No we are fine. It was just after 11 when we left the school.” she pulled on my hand urging me to keep going.

 

     “You know if we are just a second late we will go to the wrong world, right? Like vampires probably. I am really not interested in going there. You know what headmaster says about that place..”

 

     “Come on Jezzi. We have plenty of time to hit the right world. No worries.” I looked at her for a couple seconds and sighed.

 

     “I am trusting you Kam.. Don't lead me the wrong way.” I laughed walked over to the portal and stared at it for a moment. The glowing blue was very inviting. It looked a little like a pool, excpet it was standing up right.

 

     “Ready Jezzi?” I looked at Kam, she looked nervous.

 

     “Having second thoughts Kam? I glanced back at the portal then back at her.

 

     “Absolutely not.” She tightened her grip on my hand. “Let's go.” She smiled and we ran towards the portal. As we jumped the clock tower rang out, signaling the change of worlds at the other end of the portal. It was too late to stop so I help onto Kam tight and hoped for the best.

 

            “Whatya thinking about Jez?” I jumped to my feet and swung around.

 

     “What do you want V.. I was thinking about my last day as a witch. The last day before my life was stolen away from me and I was forced into becoming a blood sucking creature that I was raised to hate and defy no matter what it cost me. My mother, the headmaster, thinks I am dead. As far as she is concerned I am.” I got to the end of my rant I got quiet. Thinking of my mother and what her life was like now. What kind of rules she put in to avoid a repeat.

 

     “I stole nothing from you Jez. You know that. I hate what we are as much as you do.” He shook his head and walked closer to me. “It's getting late, it will be dark soon. Want to feed now or later?”

 

     “Later. I am really not in the mood to right now.” He gently took my face in his hands and looked me in the eyes.

 

     “When was the last time you ate Jezabel?” V had gotten serious all of a sudden. Shocked by it, I took a moment to answer.

 

     “Uhm, some time last week I think.” I pulled away and shook my head. “Not like it matters. When was the last time you ate V? Don't question me when you do the same thing to yourself.”

 

     “I am not worried about myself, I know my limits. I am stronger than you are and I have to feed less since I am only half tainted.” He laughed then looked around. “But it's getting late, lets at least get some regular food in you if your not going to feed.” He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the edge of the woods. “My mom would love to have you over you know. She asks about you everyday.”

 

     “No thank you, but tell her I said hello. I need to check in anyway, Master has been really serious about me checking in regularly. Apparently something is about to happen but he won't tell me what.” V gave me a weird look.

 

     “I wonder what there is about you that makes everyone worry for your safety. Around here, it's suppose to be everyone looks out for themselves. Death is a regular thing, yet the Master makes sure your safe all the time. I can't seem to stay away for more than a couple days because I fear something has happened to you. You never call me and you haven't been by my place in months.” I took a step for the sidewalk.

 

     “I think you all are a tad bit crazy. That's probably why. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself.” I walked away, leaving V behind.
