I Don't Belong

I Don't Belong

A Chapter by Smokey

I sat in the hard chair waiting for him to finish ranting. Master was full of hot air, always having something to yell about, or maybe it was just me. Everyone I talked to says he is a very quiet and mysterious person.

“Jezabel, are you even listening to me?!” I looked up at him, his usual straight black hair was pulled back into a neat pony tail that laid against his neck, still reaching about mid back. His eyes were burning orange, staring right at me.

“Not really. I have heard the same speech every time I do something that isn't to your liking. So why should I listen when I know exactly what I am going to hear. Your like a broken record.” I  huffed in boredom and stood up. “Can I leave now?”

“You can't continue to speak to me like that Jezabel "”

“I Don't Belong Here!! I want to go home, where I do belong. Not in this horrible, miserable place that you have forced me into!” I screamed at him, fighting back the tears that I knew would try to make an appearance soon enough.

“Watch your tongue! You will no longer talk to me like I am beneath you!” His usual pale face was beginning to get flushed, which meant it was time to shut up. I sat back down and bowed my head.

“Yes Master.” I whispered and let a few tears escape but wiped them away as quickly as I could. He sighed and knelt down in front of me.

“Jezabel, you must understand what I am trying to get through your head. Yes, I treasure you more than the others but you don't have any special rights. There are rules here, rules to keep you safe from the dangers that lurk around every corner. Yes, you have been pulled away from your world but that isn't my fault. I am just trying to help you adjust to this new life as smoothly as possible and your making it nearly impossible to even keep you alive, much less help you adjust. Now please go so I can get some business taken care of.” He stood up and walked over to his desk. I stood up and walked over to the door.

“I don't belong here and you know it.” I said looking up at him, barely catching a glimpse of the pain in his eyes before he could erase it. Then walked out the door, letting it slam shut behind me.
