Understanding

Understanding

A Poem by Smokey
"

I wrote this while I was talking to my mom trying to understand what she is going through with my father through her eyes. She said I caught it very well.

"

The head games they insist on.

The pain I gain.

The hatred I grow.

Pretending; when I know,

They know,

Everyone knows my hate grows.

He plays with hearts.

Mind.

Emotions.

Without a care in the world.

Merely a puppet,

At the hands of her.

Hands that lead the orchestra,

The hands that control the words.

Trying,

Trying so hard

To keep the smiles.

The pleasantries.

The laughs.

Everything to make it easier.

Easier for them.

My life.

My reasons for living.

My kids.

I'm tired of pretending.

I'm tired of the games.

I dream of the day,

The day I can say Goodbye.

Farewell.

Adios.

Forever.
