When Word's Aren't Enough

When Word's Aren't Enough

A Poem by ~S.S.A.F.

When words aren’t enough

And our struggles are tough

we take our pens

Try to make sense

And leave our marks in the dark

Wishing they would understand

All we hold in our hands

But instead we are tossed

Like garbage in a trash can

Thrown in to a part of society we don’t understand

Because we are different

They don’t understand the kind of women or man we are

Because to them we are monsters in the dark

And as we fight our battles we see

That the creatures that we’re so afraid of are us

The beasts in our hearts are the cause of our problems

We set ourselves up for denial

To scared to face the trial

If people see what we are

We know they’d be scared

So we hid behind a mask

And take our full consequence

Because it’s easier to suffer in silence

Then heal with the word slaughter of man

So we stand alone in the dark

With a shaking heart

Wondering if fighting our demons alone

Is worth hiding behind a shadow that use to be called our hearts

So we sit in a cage

Turning deranged

Hoping someone out there is willing to save

Until that day

We stay

Struggling to make sense of the words on our page
