Sad life

Sad life

A Poem by Samuel Riley

There once was boy.
A sad boy.
Riddled with depression.
No one truly knowing how he felt.
Alone and lost.
Growing up with pain and sorrow.
This sadden him so.
Hiding behind false smiles.
He did well.
Through his life he learned.
That his writing was his friend.
Not always a good friend though.
Having more lows then ups.
He couldn't take anymore.
Tried to end it.
Many failed attempts.
This made his depression grow.
Moving through life as a shell.
He finally did find happiness.
Thought he was finally free.
But this didn't last.
His depression growing stronger.
This saddened him so.
Found comfort in a bottle.
But it didn't take his sorrows away.
Only hiding them.
Still feeling this pain.
He wanted it all to stop.
But in the mist.
An old childhood flame found him.
This made him feel again.
But like his story goes.
This to didn't last long.
His depression growing even more so.
Feeling down and lost.
He try to have it all go away.
Family stopped him.
Some didn't even noticed.
Fooling them with a false smile.
Some bought it, Some did not.
Oh depression why do you plague me so?
Am I doomed to walk this earth with you at my side?
Will this nightmare ever end?
Is this my reality?
Thought the now young man.
Cursed with many things.
Depression one being one of them.
