Gilded Cage

Gilded Cage

A Poem by Samuel Riley

when the poison vial touches my lips.

Her name echo's though out my head.

Seeing the flip side of all my mistakes.

Is this my gilded cage?

This is my salvation.

Split right down the middle.

Is this my gilded cage?

This is my salvation.

True and through.

Once a man, Now a broken shadow.

Is this my gilded cage?

This is my salvation.

Pain and sorrow.

Both truths, Yet both full of lies.

Misery deep down to the core of this soul.

Is this my gilded cage?

This is my salvation.

Smoke screens wrapped around.

Nights drawn out.

Is this my gilded cage?

This is my salvation.

This is my salvation for this nightmarish hell.
