Love is a Murderer

Love is a Murderer

A Poem by SPF

Her heart is filled with holes
From bullets previously shot
No emotion, dark and cold
In the pain she’s eternally caught

Through her ever-present darkness
She see’s his glowing face
His features like a sweet caress
His eyes are like the rain

His mesmerizing smile
His alluring eyes so deep
Entrances her innocent, mind of a child
And her heart is his to keep

His words like sugary honey,
Dripping from his lips
And now no amount of money
Could free her from its grips

She thinks they’re in love
She thinks she’s got it right
She thinks the one she’s dreaming of
Will end her endless night

But she cant see through his charming looks
Or through his endearing beckon
His murderous past, his bloody hands,
And behind his back, the weapon.

And when she’s closest to him
When she’s given him all she’s got
When to every “please” she’s given in
Then you hear the shot

He leaves her lying broken,
Dying but not dead
All the times she has been hurt
Fill her aching head

The gun wasn’t aimed at her chest
But through her heart it surely shot
Staying strong is always a test
No matter how many bullet holes you’ve got.
