Love DoctorA Poem by SPFI’m the love doctor, next patient please. I’m here to try and cure you of your deteriorating disease What seems to be the problem? Torn soul or broken heart? Has someone killed your purpose or ripped your world apart? Are you with someone who beats you? Are you sick of all that pain? Do they make you feel worthless? Do they make you feel ashamed? Are you covered with the bruises, the scars of their hate? Are you tired of living daily with this agonizing fate? Does happiness elude you, always seeming to slip away? Does the idea of love confuse you, leaving your sanity in disarray? I hate to have to tell you, but there’s nothing I can do. Your heart has been completely shattered, it’s now no good to you. Because of this misfortune, you’ll find it too painful to try, You’ll find it pointless to smile, yet common to cry. But the symptom that is certain is the inability to love and feel, Your senses will stay numb and your wounds will never heal You’ll lay awake at night and never go to sleep, You’ll toss and turn and cry and scream and never find your peace. The most painful and deadly symptom, which is certain to occur, Is the trickery of false hope, that taunts you with its lure. You’ll seem to find happiness, but then the darkness closes in, Taking away that bittersweet hope and pulling you under again. So to put it very simply, you’ll be wishing you could die. But you won’t die from a broken heart. You won’t and neither did I.
