Light

Light

A Poem by SPF

The stifling blackness closes in
Making it murderous to breathe
The ground beneath me caves in
And I tumble into the deep
A bottomless pit of worries and troubles
Where serpents strike your skin
Where hot coals burn and rocks tumble
And death comes closing in
Where sorrow leaks from every wound
Made in your broken heart
The place where darkness is your tomb
And where all pain starts
But through this misery. I see a Light
Fulgent through my pain
Sweet redemption from eternal night
From this Light I gain
I’m wrapped in it’s warmth
Mesmerized by it’s glow
To it’s will, I will conform
From it’s arms I’ll never go
It’s showed me a reason for living
It’s showed me right from wrong
To me it’s always giving
Each day a new song
But the Light cannot stay
And become a part of me
The Light must fade away
Because together, we can’t be
I feel it’s warmth fading
My soul returning to it’s shell
I keep on hoping, praying
I’m not returning to my hell
But the shackles of snakes clamp to my wrists
My soul is ripped apart
And I’m cast again into the abyss
Because Light cannot love the Dark.
