Parental Combating PhraseA Poem by Phresh777"Because I said so" worked about fifteen years ago when I still believed it was the tooth fairy that gave me a quarter in exchange for my baby tooth. When I thought the boogie man was out to get me. When I went around the neighborhood informing random people you were Wonder Woman and when i thought saying words like f**k, b***h and s**t was the only way to get the older kids to play t with me. Becasue I said so was once gold and now it has become a sign that you have no legitamitte reason for the ultimatums you shove in my face daily. It is now the most horrific thing to my ears every time you screech it. Over the years I have developed an intense yearning for converstions and an overbearing taste for civil bickering and the whole "Because I said so" thing throws me off because it tells me that we are on different levels, yours being rather lower than mine so i just let go and do as you tell me and then i realize that maybe that was your plan all along because although I feel about the words like hot feels about cold, day after day I find myself submitting to "Because I said so" © 2011 Phresh777 |
