A Life-long Promise from Me to YouA Poem by Trey JakosalemThis is a sequel or follow-up to my poem: Coffee and You. This is a foolish promise to live by. Especially when one realizes they were just being used.A Life-long
Promise from Me to You By Trey Jakosalem They say goodbyes hit the hardest. They say goodbyes are a new beginning. They say goodbyes are there for a new hello. They say goodbyes are the end… I don't like that last one. On the days when I smell the rain, I lie in bed reminiscing… About the times I took pictures of the weather. And I'd send them to you, hoping they’d make you feel
better. On the nights I see the moon, A golden glow or a bright soothing white. I remember I took pictures of the moon, beautifully
haunting. I send them to you, saying… "I found the moon particularly beautiful tonight. If you can't see it, I got those for ya." I never got to say that phrase that I wanted. A phrase that you might not even get. "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" A subtle way of saying… I love you. But we're still friends, and that's what matters. I'll try and win your heart back, but until then… Remember my promise to you: I'll love you for as long as you need me. I'll love you even when you don't. I'll love you until you learn to love yourself, and even
after that… And remember that I won't abandon you if you won't abandon
me. Let the rain soothe my pain. Let the moonlight embrace me. Let the world know I love you so. I want you to know… That I have no other intention but to love you… straight and
true That I'd gladly be a villain to the world if they dare so
much as hurt you. Because I don't want to be "just friends", But I guess we're both not yet ready. And until then, so be it, friends it is. But I want you to know that I love you more than that. I hope someday, one day, you'll feel the same. Just remember my promise… that I love you so. And I dare not say goodbye. © 2021 Trey JakosalemFeatured Review
