The Girl With The Flowery Hair

The Girl With The Flowery Hair

A Poem by S.M. Melling
"

A poem I wrote for a special someone, that I wanted to share. It was the first poem I wrote that inspired me to write any kind of poetry.

"
On a cool summers day, in the grass do I lay,
beside the girl with the flowery hair.

Joy do I know, in the warmth and the glow,
of the sunshine that we share.

With her eyes on me, my soul she could see,
unguarded for her to know.

Will she pay me in kind,
her trust to be mine?

Love we could grow, if the trust she will sow,
the girl with the flowery hair.

But the walls and the moat do castle her heart;
to swim and to scale, that love might prevail?

These things, I do not know.

Author's Note

S.M. Melling
This is the very first poem I ever wrote. I had never read any poetry before, or had much of an interest in anything literary. After writing this poem, I was asked by a few different people if I had taken poetry classes before and told I had a talent for writing. I've been exploring it since then. I hope everyone enjoys.

Lovely sentiments expressed here, just like her hair the words flowed. Did you scale her walls in the end??
