One Slow Summer Noon

One Slow Summer Noon

A Poem by SUGATA M
"

Based on a Bengali poetry of Akshya Kumar Baral

"

Me and my dull shady tree,

World slowly burning around me,

Drooping lids in dreaming spree,

Shutting my mind in whimsical glee,

Shimmering Summer spreading over saturated She,

My dull shady tree intoxicate meandering me.

I`m a great fan of Indian poetry, recently read the selected poems of Tagore, fantastic literature. This too is a fine poem, acute, quiet observation of nature, the kind of good poetry that often comes from India.

So excellent..."drooping lids in dreaming spree"....and "saturated She"- images that you open the door to is amazing. Starts so simple, yet ignites like a fire- and you are lost in the intensity you create, then you bring us back to the ground with the tree...a magician at work...very nice.

I'm a sucker for short poems that tell a story with few words, and this poem is no exception. Thank you the invitation to read your work today and I hope to read more in the near future. Have a good night.

what is nice about this, it could be a dude just laying on the grass in New York or a woman by a river in South east Asia.

This is an interesting writing style. There is something about it that captures my attention. It is simple but the wording is elegant. I found myself reading it through three times. I like it, it grabs me. Well done, friend.
