Shortest love-story

Shortest love-story

A Story by SUGATA M

'I love you.'

'What do you say?'

'I love you.'

'Sorry, you are late.'

'Why you say that?'

A glowing smile appeared on her face. Those wavy dimples became prominent. The ocean in the eyes became wild.

'I just promised to someone else.' she said apologetically.

'I will wait then.'

'For me?'

'No.' I replied.

'Then?'

'For the angel to take my love away.'

'If the angel never comes?' She giggled.

‘Then you will be the luckiest woman on earth.’

‘How can you be so confident?’ she mildly asked.

‘Because I love you. I know my feelings for you better than anybody else.’

She didn't say anything after that. Her eyes were fixed to mine. I knew she is in a bit dilemma.

I also knew she will leave soon without uttering any more word. But the confusion will stay with her.

Is she overlooking a true love?

Is a genuine lover being overshadowed by her obligatory ego?

The confusion might torture her throughout a substantial portion of life.

She would be ready to pray for the angel not to come to me.

But she will never know angel can’t take anything away from a lifeless body lying in the ocean-bed of her eyes.

My girl is such a fool!

A kind of prose poem, that is universal through a clever, non specific frame, nice idea
