THING

THING

A Story by Sunny

The night before prom and all about the town, salons and dress shops had just locked their doors. All the last minute appointments or trials had cause for a very long day. It was eight o'clock now, a heavy, dense fog rolled over the town like a tsunami wave. Barely able to make out street lights is when she texted her boyfriend. Overwhelmed thinking though she was being watched.
"David, I hate this fog! I can't see anything anymore!" She texted.
"Oh stop being dramatic it's not even that bad," was his reply. Still she felt the need to walk a little faster. Completely unable to see now she called David..
"Please, Please come get me. I don't want to be out here alone anymore, it's so eerie!"
"Ok ok I'm on my way where are you?" He replied
" I'm at the corner of Harnes Dr and Angus."
 "Okay I'm coming."
That was the last communication they had that night.
Silently she waited, he was only 20 minutes away, and yet this was the longest 20 minutes of her life. The coyotes were howling. Birds stopped singing hours ago, the wind howled with the coyotes. She shivered as it was a cool night, waiting, an eternity. A car turned the corner, hoping in vain for it to be David, watching for it to stop. She saw something in the lit up fog. Standing seven feet tall at least. Scared she walked briskly towards what looked like the nearest street light. Turning to look behind her, spying it just out of the corner of her eye. There it was! Standing under the light she just left.
