It's Just The End of Days (That's All)

It's Just The End of Days (That's All)

A Poem by SMcIlhon

There was a computer game we'd play
about building civilizations.  I played
on a computer they'd laugh at.  Too slow.
I'd lose.  One fire would start
and another as I put out the first.
The winds of tornadoes wouldn't help.
There weren't enough fire trucks.
There wasn't enough water.  The money
was burning too, but it was worthless anyway.

I'd sit at my desk and pray one day
for a faster computer.
I'd sit in my air-conditioned room
and wait for Dad to order another pizza.
There weren't enough hours in the day
to save my failing civilizations.  I swear
that game was unbeatable.
