Once upon a time

Once upon a time

A Poem by Phil Madeley

Once upon a time
The world made sense
Now it doesn't
And that's my defence

Once upon a time
Everyone new
That one plus one
Would always make two

Once upon a time
The skies were blue
The future was bright
But we've lost that too

Once upon a time
I had great hope
But they kicked that from me
And it's all up in smoke

Once upon a time
They told me lies
That i sucked up
And then learnt to despise

Once upon a time
I did believe
The official version
Of social disease

Once upon a time
I came to see
The powers that be
Were playing with me

Once upon a time
I decided to stop
The corporate greed
And reverse the rot

Once upon a time
I fought with passion
Then found my self chained
In a paddy waggon

Once upon a time
The world made sense
And that your honor
Is my defence!
