Everlast

Everlast

A Poem by Stephen Longo

How long could we stay

How long could we last

Will it have been all for nothing

Or all for you

A selfish realization taken at the others expense

Is an appetite I’ve perceived as an end in itself

With me as its means

To keep up and be enough

Is of my only concern

The thought of losing you

Before losing could even be lost

Is the punishment I consider

When there is no consideration

Because who wants to be hurt

Who wants to be broken?

Am I foolish for trying?

Foolish for believing

This could be real
