TODDLERS' JUSTICEA Poem by SHEEMA HUQTODDLERS’ JUSTICE
Bored, restless,
protest cries
Galloping feet,
prying eyes
Fidgeting limbs,
irrepressible whims
Ranting, panting,
jumping, thumping
Pushing, pleading,
hanging, heaving
Swaying, swinging,
careless flinging
Prancing, chanting,
wanting something
Sporadically jovial,
needing approval
Curious ears,
boisterous jeers
Robust cheers,
tentative leers
Looming fears,
sprawling tears
Rumbling belly,
mimicking jelly
Moistened cheeks,
savouring treats
Fleeting gazes,
determined paces
Half formed phrases
Tardy embraces…
Safe.
