Such a beautiful and thought provking poem about one of my favourite trees. So sad that in this country there's been and is Dutch Elm disease. Recently heard that a plantation of different elms has been planted to discovrer, sadly over so much time, which are the strongest. Meantimes,. you do so much to honour of the Elm, creating such near infinite.. if only. Your brevity displays more than a tome.

there is great imagery and legend in Elm trees. Throughout literary history and perhaps because
of the fragile nature of the species, "Elm" takes on a very mystical connotation and even a abrupt,
transitional one. Plath, in her poem "Elm", used it to signify a persons loosing all clarity and control
like swaying branches or the falling off off bark:
"Now I break up in pieces
that fly about like clubs. A wind
of such violence will tolerate no by standers."
And you Sheema use the imagery of Elm
as the uncompromised bystander, engrossed and enormous. Well done and very entertaining.
