FULL MOON METALLIC

FULL MOON METALLIC

A Poem by SHEEMA HUQ
"

Poem

"

Full moon

metallic,

captive with gleam,

illuminating, ecstatic,

     glazed with glycerine,

with sorrowful severance,

       in a circle of deference,

the  pack  of wolves, prowl,

foretelling,

cavorting, with wistful howls.

Sparse was the grass

on the muddy lawn,

descending,

through

sinewy.

dawn,

as the bedazzling

                round obstacle,

 on a drenched spring morn,

turned barely visible,

obscuring in to

a melting, distant  icicle,

dental white enamel,

whiter than life

could be durable

now

a faint fragment,

impassively fragile,

  consolingly, yet

still,

as ever

mystical

I've read this a few times, now, and it has the kind of rhythm I usually beat;
So thank you for the excellent poem!

Hi David, it is my pleasure, I should be over to visit you later in the week, thanks so much :)
you capture the moon and its magnificent presence in the many nuances of night. i am very fond of wolves. you show them reverence and fear at the same time, while still painting homage to the moon in her lunar omnipresence...this is magnificent writing, imagery, metaphor, substance, resonance and a unique writing quality which sings off the page. well done!

You're welcome! :)
This is major. The ordered assonanace, marked by regular or harmonious arrangement,
speaks loudly here. Diego Paz often talks of rhythm, which took me a long time
to understand exactly. But this is what he meant.

"whiter than life,
could be durable
now
a faint fragment,
impassively fragile"

I think he meant it in it's natural oratorical effectiveness and not so much in
it's proficiency in oral expression. Rhythm. Nicely done.

Your a superb writer of
poetry.

what a stream of thoughts that went on extolling beauteous faces of the moon...turning into surprises in every turn of phases and waning....hours of evening to minutes of the dawn...so passionately connected you are through outpouring of your poetic expressions that as if it strikes musical notes as it flows....superb, Seema !!

The moon really is an extraordinary master or mistress to one's senses, imagination. Your words move in streams, wonderful language, superb phrasing: 'Sparse was the grass ~ on the muddy lawn, ~ descending, through sinewy. dawn, ~ as the bedazzling round obstacle, ~ on a drenched spring morn, turned barely visible,.. .. '

If i close my eyes i can see that 'melting, distant icicle' become more and more fragile yet .. utterly mythical; returning and returning in all its guises. What a beautiful piece of writing!
