AFTER THE RAIN

AFTER THE RAIN

A Poem by SHEEMA HUQ
"

a poem

"

warmed by

sunrays,

mist rises

and escapes

in a canopy

of clouds,

pearly wisps of

meandering

vapours

enable a

multitude

of senses

to be aroused,

after the

incessant

teasing

of rain fall,

iridescent

beams of

sunlight,

through the

shrubs of

evergreen,

enshroud,

though,

peace in one’s

mind remains

unendowerd,

as festering

riotous

proliferations

of anguish,

halts focus,

then with

muddy

convictions,

impetuously

confound

It seems the clouds came back; if not in form, at least in function. There is a dark gloom hanging over the ending. I always feel refreshed after the rain. I like to go out and hear the birds sing again. A soulful piece of music can sometimes be as cathartic as rain. I enjoyed the read.

thanks John
Over the years I have read much from Sheema, she writes well and this is one of the best she has written, really like the short, powerful lines, the fine punctuation and the excellent vocabularly, regards to a poet from my own home town...

I am, such a considerate comment Leslie, thanks so much
Love the way your words drip down the 'page' - wondering if that's intentional, seems so to me anyway. Beautiful phrasing, especially in that second stanza .. 'after the.. incessant.. teasing.. of rain fall .. ' Last year we had more rain than hot dinners but at least we now seen green, green and yet more green in our country.

There's nothing better than a walk in mid.rain, feeling the skin tingle .. makes one feel alive! Not sure about the torrents however!

glad to have evoked such a lively review from you Emma Joy, thanks v much
From reading the first two stanzas, i was immersed in complete equanimity. Then, came the rest of the verse which stirred tense and apprehensive perceptions. This is a very evocative composition, since the vividness has been very articulately produced by your subtle words.

Perception is a funny thing, what one person finds inspirational another may find disturbing or dumb. The mind is a mysterious thing. nice writing.

I quite agree, thanks for commenting
Being one that lives in the desert, rain always brings welcoming emotions. Just a sprinkle brings the desert to life with activity, rejoicing in this water that brings out those that dwell underground evading the harsh desert sun.

nature, rejuvenates with the rain, nourishes the leaves and the roots and i believe we are rejuvenated too, without the rain how would we know what is truly the sunshine? you write with a lot of natural beauty, i enjoyed this. fantastic.
