You Are

You Are

A Poem by Sarah Willis

A burnt sienna sunset

Just before a blanket of stars

The sound of a thousand tropical birds

In a symphony of happiness

Soft hands and a gentle kiss goodnight

A warm heart and a listening ear

You are a morning saturated in sepia and played like a well-

loved memory

A favorite book, that I've read over and over, until I know it by heart

Threaded fingers and laugh lines

You are burned pancakes and a dream of a lazy Sunday morning

A cuddle and a kiss.

A shoulder to cry on.

You are a shelter on a beach during a tropical storm and the sunrise

when the light shines through.

You are everything to me and I am nothing without you.
