Sudden Realness

Sudden Realness

A Poem by S.E.C.

It's a new day

spent sifting through fallen leaves in

my memory and dwelling in the

calmness that is only interrupted by

rippling water from each fallen

pedal.

Time never stands still, yet creeps along

the bench in the form of an inch worm,

small and green,

yet determined and accomplished.

Drifting waves of yellow peek though

churning clouds, allowing my dark

reflection on the grass to grow well beyond

my height and reveal the companion I've

known for so long.

It's just another day

maybe new, familiarly old, and strikingly

distant.

Yet it's my day, and I enjoy it as well

as I can.
