Sarah

Sarah

A Poem by S.E.C.
"

Just pondering...

"

When I first wrote this, I didn't know exactly who I had been writing about. Until I fianally realized that she was me.

Sarah

Silence was all she wanted.

Yet instead she tread through her thoughts

on a porch with a busy street.

Just her luck.

She'd waited for his answer.

A simple 'hello' would have been plenty enough.

Yet still, deeply, she wanted more.

Maybe a wave, a smile, or a hug.

When it started to rain, she'd remember

every detail, smudge, and glance.

The way each voice simmered

and each goodbye was always more.

She knew either way she'd stay strong.

If not for herself, then for those who'd

grant her the pleasure of being missed.

Listening to her unshed voice.

Letting it all end in a blink of an eye

was never her style, nor her way.

So she'd fight for it all, even when nothing was left.

And savor the silence she acquired.

So she'd fight for it all, even when nothing was left.
And savor the silence she acquired.

--Strong lines...and I think the essence of what I got out of this read. I see myself in your words...the sometimes fumbling, always dreaming, desperating hopeful, unwaveringly goal-driven person that I can be. I like the form of this piece...the way that the words speak of truths that so many of us can relate to. The depth of the thoughts that are actually "between the lines" are the one that I enjoy the most. Nicely written!
