Forgetting You

Forgetting You

A Poem by nichols6
"

I broke up with my girlfriend 6 months ago. I don't know why I did it, but I loved her. She seemed completely unaffected after the break up.

"
Can you not see that you're killing me?
You have to see it in my eyes
When I stare at you from across the ball room
A part of me gives up and dies.

Our eyes won't stop meeting
And my arms are bleeding
Please, won't you bandage me up?

How can you say you're not feeling it?
'Cause it burns my heart like a coal
Please tell me at least that I left a mark,
'Cause in my heart, you left a hole.

My stomach is churning
And my heart is burning
Please, won't you put the flame out?

And I know that I need to forget you,
But it's impossibly hard to let go
Of the threads that for so long entangled me
So I guess I just need you to know

I'm moving on and forgetting you,
You're getting kicked out of my life
And even though I cry when I see your face,
My heart wishes you were my wife.
