Arriving at the airport, Yukito paid the taxi driver and helped James out of the car. Hauling his pack onto his shoulder, and Mr. Kato into the crook of his arm, Yukito grabbed James’ hand and entered the airport.
“We want Airline Japan,” Yukito said as he looked left and right. “Ah, there it is!” he exclaimed as he saw it off to his right. Dragging James behind him, Yukito walked towards the desk. Marking which queue was which, Yukito quickly entered the First class line and waited. “We’re a little early, but I’ll call Scott and the others and let them know to go ahead and check in. Their reservations are under their own name, so it shouldn’t be a problem,” Yukito explained as he took out his cell phone. “Moshi moshi, Sukotto! When you get to the airport, check in for yourselves. James and I are already here and are going to be checked in once this old man gets finished. Tell everyone, okay??” Yukito said. Without waiting for a reply or saying ‘good-bye,’ he hung up the phone. “Okay, so we check in and then grab a hot cocoa and go sit by the gate, sound good?” Yukito asked as he turned towards James.
“Sounds great,” James said as he smiled.
“Good,” Yukito replied as they were called to the desk. There was little problem checking in at the desk. James had worried about being underage and flying, but it seemed that the lady at the desk didn’t have the same concerns. Taking the tickets from the lady at the desk, Yukito turned and walked towards the security gates. James quickly followed him and they waited in line. Making it through security was just as easy as getting the tickets – although the wait was a bit longer.
Walking towards the gates, James turned to Yukito and said, “this is my first time in an airport. And my first flight.”
“Really? Well, then it’s a good thing that we have first class tickets! The flight is a long one and must be terrible to do in economy class,” Yukito said, a little surprised that James’ revelation. “Now, let’s get that hot cocoa!” Yukito said with a smile as he saw a sign that read A.C.’s Coffee Hut. Stopping at the restaurant, Yukito looked at the menu. “Good! They have hot cocoa, too! I hate coffee,” he said as he turned up his nose a little.
“Me too. But Scott likes it, so maybe it’s just something you have to get used to…somehow,” James agreed.
“Well, let’s get some,” Yukito said as he was halfway up to the counter. “Two large hot cocoa’s to go, please,” Yukito said to the man at the counter.
“What is the name, please,” the man asked, marker and cup in hand.
“Yukito.”
“Okay, that’ll be $7.89,” the man said as Yukito placed a $10 bill on the counter. “Please wait over there,” the man said after handing Yukito his change. Yukito and James moved to where the man had pointed with his head and waited. It was only a few minutes before their order was ready. Grabbing a hot cocoa each, they left the restaurant and started towards their gate.
When they reached the gate, they both sat down in two available seats. Putting his drink on the floor, James picked up his book bag and started to search inside. “What are you looking for?” Yukito asked curiously.
“I don’t have much money, but I can hopefully at least pay for the hot cocoa,” James replied as he rooted around his bag.
“Don’t worry about it,” Yukito said grabbing James’ hands. “You can buy me a cookie in Japan sometime!”
“AND, why is James buying you a cookie?” a voice asked from behind James.
“’Cause I bought him a cocoa,” Yukito said with a slight pout.
“Ahh, Scott!” James said as he turned around to see who was speaking. “Where were you yesterday?” he asked as he stood up and hugged Scott.
“We went over to Mitch’s. It snowed so hard that we had to stay there overnight,” Scott said as he hugged James back.
“SO, where are you sitting?” asked Yukito as he squeezed between James and Scott.
“Haha, Scott’s in the WAY back! He’s almost sitting in the toilets,” Quince chimed in for Scott.
“Aww, poor Scott!! Here, take Mr. Kato!” Yukito said thrusting the stuffed bunny into Scott’s arms. “He’ll keep you company during the flight. I mean, 15 hours is a long time to be all alone in the back…” Yukito said rubbing circles on Scott’s arm with his finger.
“Fine, I’ll take him if you don’t touch me,” Scott said as he grimaced at Yukito. “Now, were you looking for me yesterday?” Scott asked as he turned to face James.
“Yeah…” James admitted with a slight blush.
“Why didn’t you call?” Scott gently asked as he placed his hand on James check.
“Yukito did…”
“Really? Well, I didn’t get a call on my phone. You can check it if you’d like?” Scott said as he turned James’ face up towards his. “Now, why don’t you tell me what happened?” Wrapping an arm around James’ shoulders, Scott led him to a couple of seats that were apart from where the others were taking seats. Sitting down, James began to tell Scott about what happened.
When James finished, Scott kissed his forehead. “I can’t believe he hit you,” Scott said as he pulled back. “I can kinda see the bruise. I’m sorry,” he said as he hugged James.
“It’s okay,” James said as he hugged Scott tighter. “There’s really not much to do about it. And, Yukito listened, so I did have someone to talk to.”
At the mention of Yukito, Scott grimaced. Pulling back to grasp James’ shoulders, he said, “I’m here now, and I will be. If you ever need anything, you call me. Yukito…he has a funny idea of what is morally right.”
“…okay” said James a little confusedly.
“Now, there are a few temples around Master’s house, wanna go see ‘em?” Scott asked as he ruffled James’ hair.
“Yeah!” James exclaimed. “Can you describe the area for me?”
“Sure,” Scott said. With that, Scott told James about his Master’s house and the surrounding area until they were called to board the plane.
