“You can sleep with me, if you like,” Yukito said with a pout on his face. Handing one of Scott’s shirts to James, he noticed the slight blush on James’ face. “I mean, the bed’s really big!” Smiling, Yukito grabbed James’ hand as he reached for the shirt.
“Thank you Yukito, but I think I’d prefer the sofa. I’m not sure how well I’ll sleep, and I don’t want to disturb you,” James said.
“Well, okay. But if you need anything, let me know,” Yukito said gently letting James’ hand go. “Now, change and get ready for bed! I’ll find another blanket for you!” Turning, Yukito left James alone to change into his sleeping shirt.
Clutching the shirt to him, James looked around at the room. ‘Scott must have moved out so Yukito can have his room. I don’t think that Scott and Yukito like each other. I wonder why,’ James thought as he slowly took his shirt off. Pulling the over his head, he quickly folded the shirt and put it on the now empty desk. Unfolding Scott’s shirt, he heard a soft knock on the door.
“James, is it okay if I come in? There are two blankets and I wanna know which you want,” Yukito said sweetly from behind the door.
“Ah, yeah, I’m just putting on the night shirt now,” James replied as he quickly tried to put the shirt on.
“Okay,” Yukito said as he opened the door, “which would you like?” Holding up the two blankets, Yukito looked inquiringly at James
“Ah…the one on the right,” James said as he tried to shove his arm in the sleeve.
“My right or your right?” Yukito asked as he held up the blanket on his right.
“Umm, either. I honestly don’t have a preference,” James replied as he got the shirt on.
“Okay then. I’ll give you the one on my right. It matches your hair better,” Yukito said with a smile as he turned to leave. “Oh, James,” he said as he turned back around to face James. “Are we friends?”
“Uh, yeah, I think we are,” James answered confusedly.
“Good,” Yukito said with a smile. “Now, to put the blankets on your head!”
“Ahh, don’t you mean ‘bed’?”
“No!” replied Yukito as he tossed the blanket onto James’ head. Laughing, he said, “now we know what James looks like with long hair!” Giggling, Yukito turned and went into the living room. “I’ve got you a pillow!!” he yelled as James slowly entered the room. “Hurry, hurry!! Mr. Kato is tired, and wants to tuck James in!” Yukito said with puffed out cheeks as James slowly came towards the sofa.
“Mr. Kato? Well, please tell him I’m sorry for being so slow” James said as he reached the sofa. Laying the blanket on the sofa, James felt hands around his waist.
“Ano, ne,” Yukito said as he pulled James into a hug, “how would you like to visit Japan? We can visit my place. Of course, Scott, Mitch, Lance, and Quince can come too.” Lowering his head to rest on James’ shoulder, he added: “we can leave tomorrow if you’d like.”
“Ummm, that would be nice…” James replied nervously.
“Good! Then I’ll make some arrangements and see about leaving tomorrow morning!”
“What about school, and the weather, and the money? I can’t afford to go to Japan? I think I can afford a hamburger from McCloud’s, but otherwise I can’t,” James said.
“Ii da yo! I’ll pay for it. Tomorrow we can sneak over to your parent’s house and get your clothes – they’ll go to work, and we sneak in, grab some clothes, and then go to Japan!! Maybe leave them a note about it, if we must, but, from what it sounds like, they won’t care,” Yukito said as he drew circles on James’ arm with his finger. “Now, get some sleep,” he breathed into James’ ear. Giving James one last squeeze, Yukito released James and headed towards his room.
Releasing a breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding, James lifted the blanket and laid down.
“AH!! I forgot!!” Yukito yelled from the hall. Running in, Yukito grabbed Mr. Kato off the table in front of the sofa. “Mr. Kato says ‘oyasumnasai’ to James! Yukito says ‘good night’ to James, too!” Yukito said as he bobbed Mr Kato’s head down in a mock bow. “Now, Yukito is going to call and make arrangements, have a good night, James,” Yukito said as he bent down and kissed James on the forehead.
“Good night, Yukito, Mr. Kato,” James said with a blush.
“Sleep well!” Yukito said as he exited the room. Closing his door with a soft click, Yukito picked up his phone off the desk and dialed Master.
Hearing the phone click open, Yukito said happily: “Moshi moshi, masutaa! Chotto onegai ga arun da kedo…” Speaking to his master for another few minutes, the plans were put into place. Hanging up from speaking with Master, Yukito turned and looked at Mr. Kato. “Now to tell everyone else the plan…first, Quince.” Selecting Quince’s number from his phone book, Yukito plopped down on the bed waiting for Quince to pick up.
“yeahwhaddawant?” a sleepy voice mumbled after a couple of rings.
“Yeah sleepyhead, I have a favor to ask,” Yukito said soothingly.
“I’m guessing by favor you mean that I better do it, eh? So, whadda want?”
“Don’t get too bright tomorrow. I want school to be cancelled, but not work offices.”
“How am I supposed to do that, huh?”
“Ask Scott, he knows everything. Oh, and we’re all going to Japan tomorrow. Meet at the airport at 10 AM. Tell that to Scott, Mitch, and Lance. Jyaa, ne!” Yukito said with a smile as he closed his phone, hanging up on Quince.
Snuggling into the bed, Yukito set his phone alarm for 6:30 AM, giving himself enough time to get up, get a few of his things together, wake up James, take a shower, get breakfast, and go get a few of James’ things. Smiling as he lay on his side, Yukito thought about how nice tomorrow would be.
