Lance looked up from the menu when the waitress came. He seemed to be the only person who realized that the she had come. She was a cute little thing – she seemed really perky, which was such a distinct difference between her and the boy she stood next to, Scott.
“Hello, and welcome to Ringoby’s. My name is Stacy and I’ll be your waitress today. Can I start you off with something to drink or an appetizer?” she asked with a smile on her face.
“I’ll have water,” started Scott. He said it slightly more sternly than he meant to. The seating arrangement is what had annoyed him. Scott tried very hard to move away from Yukito, but Yukito insisted on sitting next to him. They were in a round booth in a corner of the restaurant.
“ummm, I’ll have a cola!” Yukito said as he read off Scott’s menu.
“Me too,” followed Quince.
“A hot tea for me please, with creamer,” Quince said as he smiled at the waitress.
“Okay, I’ll bring those out right away!” The chirpy waitress walked away taking note of the orders.
Everyone at the table looked at their menus, except Yukito who kept on looking at Scott’s, and Scott who kept pushing the menu closer and closer to Yukito and further and further away from him.
“Why don’t you just look at your own menu?” Scott finally exclaimed as he pushed the menu into Yukito’s face.
“Because Scott’s is cleaner, and I may have a question,” Yukito responded as he fingered the menu away from his nose.
“We came here because you wanted chicken fingers, so you have neither the need to look nor any questions,” Scott exclaimed showing slight anger in his voice and face.
“meanine…” Yukito said under his breath.
“Okay, it was the hot tea with creamer, two sodas, and … a water for you,” the waitress said as she placed the drinks happily on the table. “Are you guys ready to order?”
“Yes,” answered Scott almost too eagerly, “I’ll have a hamburger – medium well -, he,” pointing to Yukito, “will have chicken fingers with fries, and” pointing at Quince this time, “he’ll have the same.”
Lance was the only one left to order. He glanced at his menu for a moment, “I’ll have the 13 ounce sirloin with a baked potato with everything, please.”
“All right! That was a 13 ounce sirloin with a backed potato with all the fixings, two orders of chicken fingers with fries, and a hamburger medium well. Would you like fries with that?”
“Yes, please,” Scott answered as he collected the menus and handed them to the waitress.
“Okay then, I’ll have those out as soon as possible!” the waitress said as she left to put the orders in.
“I don’t like her. Let’s get a new waiter,” Yukito said with a pout.
“What’s wrong with her? She’s nice enough,” said Quince between gulps.
“She keeps on looking at Scott strangely…and asking him questions…singling him out,” Yukito said as he narrowed his eyes in her direction as if he thought he could hurt her with his thoughts alone.
“That’s absurd!” Scott exclaimed. “She only asked me questions because I ordered! Besides, it’s not like you own me.”
“No, but, since you ordered, you’re my date and don’t forget it,” Yukito said as he put his arm around Scott’s.
“haha, that means that Scott is my date too!” Quince said as he laughed into his soda.
“urusai!” Yukito exclaimed as he threw his soda onto Quince’s head.
“HEY!” Quince yelled as he did the same to Yukito. The soda drenched Yukito, but also hit Scott. Scott simply looked as if he gave up on the situation, but Yukito looked severly ticked off. Lance looked sternly at Quince. He knew this wasn’t going to end well.
“You’ll regret that brat,” Yukito said as it began to snow heavily outside.
