Neon Sandals

Neon Sandals

A Chapter by Following Ferns

I crave sweet summer oranges
Clementines or tangerines
I'll lay in the grass and peel them back
Let one slice slip between my lips

I long for sunrise foggy windows
A morning stretch from a distant deep night
The summer is when we're put in an oven
And we wait till we're too warm to think about sleep

I lived until sunset
Only when summer ends
Will I tell you how it really is
How the sunshine makes me feel
