![]() The Places We've BeenA Poem by C.N.MooreWhen most people think of the places they've been, they think where they’ve traveled never looking within. When I recall the moments we’ve shared in time, I close my eyes and see with my mind. I think of the first time our touch became one, it was a perfect day under the cool December sun. I sit and gaze at the places we’ve been, my first memory focuses and I quickly dive in. You held my hand and all the world began to fade, just like that the Roaring Twenties were made. Speakeasies all around and Jazz filled the night, this was the first time our souls were one.. it was right. Picasso’s “Three Musicians” were born, surrealism was art but so much more. , “The Great Gatsby” and “A Farewell To Arms” both came to life, recreating a decades struggles to survive.. The second memory now settles in, the first time we hugged is how it begins. The depression was great and the people were sad, but Swing was alive and the dance floor was mad! I took your hand and we spun about, the music is alive in us no doubt. The 1930™s a decade of pain, but from great depression, great joy we have gained! “The Grapes of Wrath” and “Of Mice and Men”, lets not forget this is where Batman began! Artists painted novels of this time, Social Realism told stories of hardships and crime. I remember the first time I opened my heart to you, I was lost and confused I had no clue what to do. Slowly my memory becomes stitched with song, “The Voice Of Frank Sinatra” the 1940™s were on. The Cooners sang the painful song of love, their voices like magic, sent from above. “The Diary of Ann Frank” brought tears to us all, yet artists like Jackson Pollock stood tall. Abstract Expressionism took an era of War, captured it in time forever more. When we separated ways I felt pain in my soul, and I thought if I had the chance again you would always know. You’d never doubt how I ever felt, and into the next memory we melt. The 50™s brought the emotional Rock N Roll! And gave many an outlet to express their soul. Artists now reflecting the war, some were accepted and others ignored. While the recognized expressionism was still very alive, the existentialism artists also did thrive. Works of word seemed to reflect what used to be, such works of fiction were born like “The Old Man and the Sea”. We have been apart now for quite some time, fate has brought us back together to shine. Now that I’ve got you there is no letting go, and when I can hold you forever you’ll know, that my words are true especially those I don’t say, we have adventures to build a new one each day. Every moment I wonder where we will be, perhaps floating in space, or flying through the sea? For when our lips finally do become one, all time lines will stop for the birth of perfection.
