A Single White Rose

A Single White Rose

A Poem by C.N.Moore

With every rising sun I find myself walking the same path,
through a garden of roses each more red than the last.
It’s not for the comforting sea of conformity I come,
no.. I am in search of a special, unique one.
I cannot tell you what it is I seek,
or why everyday through this garden I peek.
Perhaps the sea of red roses will split,
and there amidst them my destiny will sit.
I dream every night that this fate will come true,
I hope against hope.. it’s all I can do.
It’s been years now since these thoughts filled my mind,
it’s maddening.. I feel my sanity begin to unwind.
The seasons come and the seasons go,
the red sea of roses continues to grow.
Yet year after year the sea does not split,
until one beautiful day I finally see it.
A single white rose with thorns all about,
ready to protect and keep curious hands out.
It’s love at first sight no doubt in my mind,
my entire life it’s taken to find.
I grab my camera and walk the red line,
I do not touch when I make her mine.

The character is in search of destiny, searching that goes on throughout our life. It is beautifully expressed through metaphors of garden & sea,day & night. Unselfish nature of the character is also revealed in the lines" I grab my camera and walk the red line, I do not touch when I make her mine.' the charcter is in love with someone yet, is content to see the other person being happpy

This simply gave me goosebumps. The fluidity of the piece is lovely and the imagery amazing. I enjoyed the personification of countless clones of red roses until you found the one. And she, being not so very easy to capture, was yet worth the prize.

Beautiful! So much so, that I have shared it on my FaceBook site,as well as listed it in my "favorites" library!

I adore roses, and the white rose embodies the purest essence of love in my eyes!

I think I must be the only person on the planet that is allergic to roses. But I get the poem and I like it!
