Beginning Anew

Beginning Anew

A Poem by Spencer Barker

Waves shatter,
the closely knit cracks of sands held together,
but no longer they are.
The trees blaze,
the leaves spring forth their own,
to bring new to grow.
Hatching from the egg,
they come,
soon to be one.
Waters thrush,
the dryness of their victims seen,
but to be none.
It is with the breaking, the gripping of life,
that it may begin anew.
