Hearts Beat TogetherA Poem by Spencer Barker
Waves hit the shore, threatening a cascading of sand,
but a flurry of dust. Rays of light glide along the edge of the world, welcoming escape, into the unknown, which they came. A beating of sorts, a warmth, and oh they came with lasting, longing, care. What a feeling I wish to share. Her head rests upon myself, nudging deeper, lovingly, a newly hatched bird in its nest, feeling the touch of such emotion and spirit. Arms embraced, the true love and life of being human, being in love. A fluttering of hair, as wings of a butterfly flit. A glimmering among shine, a simmering among time, and all the while, our heads together, our hearts. Hand in hand, heart to heart, to all do they finally beat together.
