MIND MATTERS

MIND MATTERS

A Poem by Ben Noah Suri
"

Its all about the mind. "Cogito ergo sum" therefore "Cogito ergo dumb". Let us go beyond our thoughts and experience the state of bliss or thoughtlessness...

"

All monuments remain

mere edifices of wood or stone

until we comprehend

the thought behind the same

Mind over matter

it’s the mind that gives substance to matter

Its only mind over matter

And only this does matter

All arts remain

meaningless human endeavour

until we understand

the mind of the creator

Mind over matter

it’s the mind that gives substance to matter

Its only the mind behind the matter

And only this does matter

All work will remain

just labour of time and effort

Until we understand

The passion which does support

Mind over matter

it’s the mind that gives substance to matter

Its only mind that makes it matter

And only this does matter

All learning will remain

Futile and purposeless

Until we realize

the nature of the formless

Mind over matter

it’s the mind that gives substance to matter

If only your mind you do shatter

Then you will be free of all matter

Very well thought out and written poem, thank you for sharing! If I may question, the last stanza speaks about how only the mind gives substance to matter, and yet to shatter the mind would be to be free of all matter...however, in doing so would that not mean that matter would lose all substance? If we shatter our mind to give substance to matter then how does our mind then matter? Also what is freedom? Isn't freedom to be without restriction, and then what obstructs the mind such that it needs to be set free? Do we not ourselves restrict our own mind by foregoing knowledge, and what is knowledge but fully comprehending the essence of a thing or person? If then to be unobstructed, so as to be free, means one is to understand something in its very essence...surely then the mind matters? ..I guess what I am really asking is...is the question how to free the mind or is the question rather what do we do or think that enables the mind to be obstructed? ...yet I suppose you do so intelligently answer this question, in that it is only by fully learning to comprehend our Creator, that we become free of obstruction. So then I suppose the question remains, how do we fully learn to comprehend our Creator? ...and even though the Creator is the same for all, not for all is the Creator the same...If we were to accept that the Creator, being existence itself is that which is Truth then only Truth will shatter all that doesn't matter, but the mind still matters all the same...no?

As I read this this piece I was reminded of a saying of it does not really matter if I don't mind. I like this and the structure. Also very true words. Your mind will control what really matters in life. Thank you for sharing this work.
