Translucent Happiness

Translucent Happiness

A Poem by Ashley Benard
"

Maybe your impression isn't as gut-wrenching as the next guys.

"

You sit there and pick and scratch at what can never be.

Soon this impression appears.

It sits upon your skin like a surfaced vein and stares at you blank in the face.

As you stare in misery, you watch the past bleed away.

The mark snickers in enjoyment as it reveals the indulging pain of yesterday.

Even though its an accident that caused a scar, it's the pain and revelation that remain to haunt your presence if what could've been, immortal happiness.
