A Poem by Alicante lullaby

you loved to watch stars from here

from this high they burn a cleft in your chest

like tiny living things

the bees,Sylvia, the inside of the bee house

and the bee language

like a suddenly conceived suicide notion

they are everywhere,polar lights,your ovens

i get the vibe

i get the silence

i think they know how hard

we have to work to adore ourselves

two shifts a day

14 a week,60 a month

they have inhaled some sort of smoke

and now they taste of sawdust

they know how

we have to struggle with our hair

and school,occasionally our periods

getting lonelier every minute

I love to see stars from here too

their lipsticked mouths talking of a subtle indifference

you will do well in your field . . . most only listen with their ears, but you hear with your heart

This is a poem that intrigues me but confuses me... I am too dumb to understand what is going on... and can only admire the images I don't get, revelling in the sights and sounds of your words... sensing the mood of loneliness and struggle that emerges at the end...

If only the stars could talk

haha sylvia is inspiring us all at the moment I see? she popped up in my musings recently too - you have this ability to retell life in your own way - the metaphorical aspects - yet always quite grounded and real - the feelings and thoughts strong - you have a wonderful way of expressing/shaping things!! nice!

I love the beautiful use of language throughout this piece. Great use of symbols and metaphor. Captivating imagery. Every line in this poem is thought provoking.

I am amazed at how you infuse life to existence. this poem seems like sifting sands to try and find a meaning, a raison d etre, behind it all. we are all lost, but there is still a flicker of hope left as long as you keep trying...
