Stars Never Lie

Stars Never Lie

A Story by SAAV13

"Tristan, I don't know how to explain this to you, but we were ment to be together. Our fates have been sealed since before we were born" Layla tried to explain as she grabbed Tristan's hand.

"Would you stop with the stories Layla! They no longer amuse me" Tristan said ripping his hand from Layla's grip with a look a discust. It was a look Layla wasn't used to. Since the day she turned 15 men had been intoxicated by her beauty. Her long black hair swept gracefully over her flawless features, and her emerald green eyes pierced right through to your soul. Even though men were so engrossed in her beauty, women loved her sense of humor and love of humanity. Women loved her personality so much it didn't even bother them that she walked around nearly half naked in skin tight, low cut dresses.

"This isn't a story! I'm telling the truth!" Layla's eyes were swelling with tears, she had never felt this strongly about anyone before. The stars had brought her here, she was sure of it. She was sure of everything in her life, simply because the stars had told her so.

"Would you stop blabbering on about the stars! I know what your doing here! You want me to fall in love with you, so I'd ask you to marry me and you'd get to marry the prince!" Tristan's voice echoed in the large court yard "Well I have to say you almost suceeded, I loved you, but I don't anymore"

"Just look at the stars!" Layla pleaded, pointing to the sky "Look at the stars and try and tell me that you don't see it"

"I'm not going to look at the stars Layla!" He screamed "If I look at the stars that means I'm buying your ridiculous story. I can't believe that you could possible think I could fall for this"

"I'm telling the truth! Nicolos fell into my bed while I was lying there" Layla tried to explain, and although it did sound it was completely true. Most things Layla said were silly stories, but everything she said to Tristan was true. She loved Tristan, and she could never bring herself to lie to him.

"Just leave! I never want to see you again!" As soon as the words escaped his lips, he knew it wasn't true, but he also knew that his heart couldn't survive if he saw her again. He whipped around and took off, not even looking back when he heard Layla chase after him, or when he heard her fall to the ground sobbing uncontrollably.

Layla layed on the ground and watched him run away, his golden blonde hair flowed in the wind, and she imagined his ice blue eyes filled with tears. Layla cried more and more, until she had no more tears to cry. She slowly lifted herself from the ground and left the courtyard

She had nowhere to go, so she wandered the streets. For the first time in her life she was unsure of what to do next. Eventually the sun began to rise and she hid, she couldn't let anyone see her in this state. She was the town storyteller, someone that was always happy and never at a loss for words. Today she was far from happy and had nothing to say.

Layla escaped to a box in an ally, and she stayed there for weeks, taking turns between crying and dry heaving. The townsfolk searched the town looking for Layla until the prince commanded them all to stop the search, Layla was not to be found.

The children became monsters of the human kind, the woman stopped laughing, and the men lost intrest in there wives. All the while Layla hid, and Tristan grew more bitter with each passing day. The town was slowly falling apart and the stars went into chaos.

Weeks after Layla had gone into hiding she stole a look up at the stars for the first time since, and at the same exact moment Tristan did as well. Layla for the first time in her life didn't know what the stars were trying to tell her, but somehow Tristan did. Tristan knew that the stars wanted him to find Layla, she was his one true love and without her his life had no meaning.

Tristan immediatly ran to town in search of Layla, the towns people knew what he was doing, they had been waiting for this moment to come. Tristan searched the town, to no avail.

"Curse the stars, and curse my father for raising an idiot" He screamed towards the sky when the sun had finally set on his unsucessful day. Layla was laying on the cold ground crying when she heard his scream and ran towards him.

Layla came up behind him, and stopped.

What if he doesn't love me anymore? I can't deal with the heart break again

Her thoughts raced through her head and she looked to the stars for her answer. She smiled at their input and tapped Tristan on the shoulder.

"Layla!" Tristan yelled so loudly that the towns people came out to see what the commotion was. The people cheered as they embraced and the couples embraced as well as the crying, screaming kids settled down, and the stars smiled down at the world and basked in the glow of there acheivment
