Abyss

Abyss

A Poem by Santiago Veracruz

I awake in the abyss, no light, no sound, only destitution. I let the darkness envelope me, and enter every crevice and crack till it has completely consumed it's prey.

This poem is abstract and yet the meaning, which I believe to be someone wanting to disappear from life, is clear. Using words like "abyss" and "darkness" are effective as a means of relating despair. And the willingness to be gone is profound. Short, powerful and good.

A dark poem with a few words yet it has a lot of emotion and a clear message.
