The FlightA Chapter by nikki-lion
In about forty minutes, the entire section I was in was almost full.
Still, nobody was sitting next to me. I took off my hat and pulled my
tail out of my shorts; it was really uncomfortable hiding them like
that.
After several more minutes the speakers came on and a man announced that we would be leaving in 5 minutes. It looked like I would fly there alone, then he walked in. The most handsome person I had ever seen. When he walked in, the room seemed to get lighter, yet I couldn't see anything except him. Then, I noticed he had wings! Angel wings! He glanced around once, spotted me staring at him and started walking to me. Oh my gosh, stop looking at him! I told myself. But I couldn't draw my eyes away from him. When he got to where I was sitting he politely asked, "May I sit next to you during the flight?" "Yes!" I almost shouted, "I mean, only if you want to." I turned red. "I would love to!" he sat down in the chair next to me. "I'm Dylan." he smiled at me. Oh my gosh was his smile amazing! I wanted to just reach over and hug him! His eyes were amazing too. The prettiest shade of green ever! His hair was dark brown and styled like Justin Bieber's. His bangs landed right above his eyes. "I'm Nicole, but everybody calls me Nick." I started tripping over my words, getting tongue-tied. Over the next thirty minutes we talked, about ourselves, Lestings and anything else we could think of. Then, about ten minutes before we landed, a mean looking boy walked by and saw Dylan sitting next to me. He chuckled evily at us, "Got a girlfriend already Mathews?!" "She's just a friend." Dylan replied smoothly. "Doubt it." he said and walked over to the back of the room. "Who was that?!" I asked, shocked that Dylan would have any enemies. He seemed so likeable and sweet. "That was Noah Flint. He thinks he is special just because he is a werewolf." Dylan replied. There is the tiniest bit of hatred in his voice. Then it hit me. "Wait, werewolf? There are werewolves at Lestings?" "Yeah," Dylan chuckled. "And a lot of other species. There are also vampires, centaurs, merpeople." He laughed quietly at the look of terror on my face. "You only have to watch out for the Vampires, Giants, Dragons, Werewolves and some Ghosts. They all think they rule the school." "Thanks for the tip." I smiled sweetly at him. "So it's not your first year here?" "No, it would be since I turned 13 three months ago but I got my wings when I was ten instead of thirteen. So I have been here ever since." "Oh," I mumbled, not sure how to answer. "Oh, I think we are landing now." We start to head down. "Good, my wings are aching!" Dylan exclaimed. I forgot he ever had wings!! He leaned forward and gracefully stretched out his beautiful white wings. It looked to amazing! Fifteen minutes later we were getting off the plane. There were many older and scary looking kids heading over toward some carts. There were kids with wings like Dylan, ears and tails like me and even some kids that were taller than a two-story house! All first years were directed down a dark path though, away from everybody else. Soon, the sound of all the older students goofing around faded away. Now all I could hear was footsteps on the dirt path. I looked to my left and saw a girl that I had noticed a couple times while on the plane. She had wings, but they didn't look like bird wings like Dylan's, they were more like dragonfly wings. More like fairy wings! "Hey, I'm Nick." I whispered since I was too afraid to make too much noise. "I'm Brella." She whispered. "I'm a fairy, you're a Neko right?" "Yah," I mumbled. We whispered awhile until we started nearing the end of the path. Then when we finally past a group of thick trees blocking our view. All 120 first years gasped. © 2011 nikki-lion |
