Nightlight

Nightlight

A Poem by S.G.P.

Huddled in bed all alone with no one in sight.
Well be brave little one it is time for bed.
Never mind the demons that dance around your head.
Never look to shadows for they will move with your fright.

Be brave little one for you have your light.
Tiny and dim, yet strong it will be.
To keep demons away and beast at bay.

Never look for fairies or angels to play.
There will only be shadows and voices to fear.
For they live at night and love to play
With children like you so innocent and pure.

Never tell a soul little one for on one is to know of
Your nighttime terrors that go on in your head.
For who is to believe you? Not mommy or daddy.

So be brave little one and huddle in your light.
And pray they will not get to you at night

You write about different things to most people. I liked the first stanza a lot, the way this flowed was slightly offbeat in a good way.
