Chapter oneA Chapter by RyzoAs the untiled "novel" description reads this is the first chapter, i thought i post it out to see what you guys think! The sun was
as bright as a crystal ball, the day Mike Anderson and Fiona Heart left for the
airport. As Mark packed their suitcases for leaving, Fiona struggled on with
telephoning to cancel all appointments at her work. Fiona works as a dentist.
Mark however, works as a policeman and managed to get the week off for the
holiday. “Honey, I told you it was better to do that two days ago when you were
off.” Mark laughed. “I know! But
I wanted some time off not thinking about work and all of this stuff, you know
it makes me all worked up and worried.” Fiona replied looking at Mark, and then
back at her appointment list as the expression of panic settled upon her. Fiona was a short, browned haired and well groomed
woman. She wore a pearl necklace and always wore something blue, even if her
dress didn’t quite match. She had ocean blue eyes that Mark always stared into;
he always made sure she knew how beautiful they were. Mark rested
his hands on her shoulders, and whispered in her ear “Don’t worry dear, relax.
We’ll be in Ontario lying on a beach drinking cocktails in no time.” Fiona
looked up, smiled at Mark, and gave him a hug and kiss on the cheek. Mark was a tall
and handsome man, with black hair and brown eyes. “I’ve packed our bags
sweetheart, are we ready to go?” Mark asked with a soft voice. Fiona started
flipping over all the cushions of the living room seats and papers that were
spread out onto the coffee table. “I can’t find my god damn car keys!” Fiona
exclaimed while in a blind panic, it was like watching a child run around in
circles looking for her favourite toy. Mark looked
under Fiona’s appointment papers next to the telephone. He picked up and
jingled the keys wildly so that Fiona would notice. “Where you left them maybe?
Miss worry, we’re in a hurry.” Mark chuckled and handed the keys to Fiona.
Fiona grabbed Mark’s hand and asked “Are you sure we have everything? You
haven’t forgotten the passports or our spending money that I exchanged yesterday,
or anything like that?” Fiona held Mark’s hand tighter. “Yes I’m
sure, I’ve checked and double checked. Money is in my suitcase along with our
passports and what not.” Mark kissed the back of Fiona’s hand and sighed. “Can
we get going now?” “Okay, let’s
go!” Fiona replied with excitement. She grabbed her suitcase with car keys in
hand, flew out the front door and swung open the boot of the car to throw in
her suitcase. Mark followed behind, he closed the door tightly and twirled the
keys in the keyhole, took a step back, and sighed. I hope I won’t miss this
place too much, He thought. Mark turned around to see Fiona staring back
at him, waving him excitedly towards the car. Mark smiled, ran round the back
of the car and chucked his suitcase on top of Fiona’s. He hopped in the
passenger’s seat of the car closed the door and yanked his seatbelt on. Fiona
checked her watch; it was 6.45 in the morning. “Horary, we’re going to make it
on time for the flight at half eight!” she kissed Mark on the lips with an
excited passion, her perfume flowed up Mark’s nostrils and tickled his senses.
“You smell gorgeous honey.” He winked with a love drunken stare. “If you say
so, you old goof!” Fiona giggled. She turned the GPS on and reversed out of the
drive. The roads on the GPS were lit up and twinkled like the lights of New
York’s sky scrapers late at night. They drove a
state of the art range rover, with all the gadgets and bits and bobs that even
Steven hawking, would be jealous of. The black tint of the windows reflected
the roadway ahead of them as the sun slowly woke up from underneath it’s duvet
of white, fluffy clouds. “Do you
think that you’re cruel neighbours would remember to feed, and clean our fish
tank while we’re away enjoying ourselves?” Fiona asked with a bright, beautiful
smile. Mark laughed and stroked Fiona’s hand. “I’m pretty sure they will.” Fiona
listened on as she put her sun glasses on to fight back against the sun’s
obscurity. “I did promise them £25 when we came back, who could argue with that
price?” Fiona was
deep in thought at this. “Did you really say twenty-five and not thirty-five?”
Fiona looked on at the brightly light road; the cars ahead were almost like
dots in the distance. Mark squinted ahead “Of course not, we need the extra
cash for our holiday. In any case, the bills and economy have been bad to us
over the past couple of weeks due to inflation, and all that boring s**t.” They passed the sign to the airport, it read; JFK International Airport, 5miles. Fiona
screamed with joy as she saw the sign, she held Marks hand and grinned with
delight. “We’re almost there honey! Just past the hill and over the next bend,
and we’ll be on the plane bored to death and munching on peanuts for an hour
and a half!” Fiona exclaimed as she held up Mark’s hand and let out a squeal of
happiness. Mark smiled and kissed her hand again. “Let’s see what goodies we
can pick up from the airport stores, I’m sure they’ll be bargains!” He laughed
sarcastically. As they
pulled up to the airport car park the sound of the planes, people, and the
intercom ringed in their ears. The airport was like a giant bee hive, the
worker drones flying out to retrieve the honey for the queen bee with such
speed and Feyness. Mark and Fiona both grabbed their luggage and walked through
the automatic airport doors. Fiona looked into Mark’s eyes and gently held
his hand, Mark stared back with a beamed smile. “This is going to be a holiday
to remember, I just know it!” Fiona boomed as the doors of JFK slowly closed
behind them. © 2011 RyzoAuthor's Note
