Hansel and Gretal

Hansel and Gretal

A Chapter by Ryosei Takashi Hime
"

Hansel and Gretal were actually inspired by four horrible children I had been babysitting at the time. >__< The whole neglect breeding horrid children thing. God, I hated and pitied those kids at the same time. Anyways, I know the last stanzas kinda

"

Alice awoke to a sharp pain in her side.

She rose to find two children, sticks in hand.

She could not speak, though she tried.

These children surely would not understand.

Hansel and Gretel she found were their names.

They had thought her stone dead.

These children played such sadistic games.

Surely through misery they were bred.

Cinderella it seemed had been removed.

The stepmother would not leave evidence.

Alice found herself unmoved

By souls departed now and since.

She begged the children's aid.

Shelter for the night.

She was lead to a shaded glade,

The sun shining cheerful and bright.

A deceiving picture of happiness and love,

The family seethed within.

The parents were neglectful of

Children not without their own sin.

Innocent animals were caught in their nets

And torture then ensued.

For hatred, hatred begets

Creating children evil and crude.

Alice could not withstand such torment

And so she fled from the troubled home.

To the sound of Gretel's lament

Through the forest she would roam.

Until she came upon a cottage so strange

Made of candy and cake.

For a night's stay she promised to exchange

Physically labor; she'd cook and bake.

The old woman agreed with such eager delight

That Alice was slightly suspicious.

Her anger she did not wish to incite

So she ignored her grin, wry and malicious.

In the morning's glow a visitor did arrive.

Gretel could not help but follow.

So a brilliant plan she did contrive.

A trail of crumbs her way back would show.

Alice had not the time to scold

Before away Gretal was snatched,

Arms in the grasp of fingers brittle and old,

A strength she found to be unmatched.

The oven grew ever closer

Though she fought against the witch.

Around the ankle Alice grabbed her

And forward they did pitch.

Gretel hit the floor with a cry.

Alice landed atop the hag.

Up she hopped, nimble and spry

To a pantry Alice she did drag.

Inside she was thrown,

The door she locked tight.

A screech like none she'd ever known

Gave her heart up to fright.

She knew then that Gretal had died.

And the next victim she'd be.

But soon her fear did subside

She knew somehow she'd be free.

The last stanza's not lame, it's good. ♥
