Cinderella

Cinderella

A Chapter by Ryosei Takashi Hime
"

I actually seemed to have given Alice's relationship with both Mary and Cinderella a slightly lesbian undertone by accident. X3 I didn't mean to really but it seems to have come out that way.

"

Alice arose bewildered and confused

To find a kind woman kneeling by her side.

Her head hung heavy, arms beaten and bruised

But within her eyes remained a sense of pride.

She asked of her health and offered a hand.

She uttered a name strange and degrading.

Her sudden company had not been planned

However Cinderella could not help aiding.

She'd suffered the worst, Alice feared,

For her kindness and concern.

From the kitchen door a woman appeared

Her face strict and stern.

An unkind step-mother, she found,

Had taken her father's heart.

Now a slave, Cinderella was bound

Her sorrow never to depart.

Alice was allowed shelter

In the basement's womb

Where in the summer heat she would swelter

In darkness, grime and gloom.

Too reminiscent of the dungeon for Alice,

She fled in the moonlit night.

To a room holding less malice,

A room holding far more light.

Upon hearing of Alice's deep fear

Cinderella opened her bed.

She held Alice's small body near

And helped to fight away the dread.

In the morning light Alice woke alone.

She rose from the lumpy sack,

Feet cold on the harsh stone,

A crick in her aching back.

Outside the window Cinderella still slaved

Under the command of sisters of hate.

She felt the girl should be saved

To her pain and sorrow Alice could relate.

So she chose not to abandon the maiden

In her hour of need.

She would help but until then

To the stepmother she would concede.

Working day in and day out

She discussed the issue with her friend

Alice urged her on despite her doubt

This wrong they would surely amend.

One night in late June she finally agreed

And together they began to scheme.

In a week's time they made to proceed.

Upon horses, they headed downstream.

In mid night their hopes were abruptly dashed.

Barely out of town they were halted.

Cinderella's horse kicked and thrashed

As the stepmother her victims assaulted.

The beaten girl fell from her steed.

Alice could not comprehend,

As her cracked skull began to bleed,

She'd lost another friend.

Consciousness escaped her grasp.

She felt herself fall once again.

She barely heard the stepmother rasp,

"Death brings solace to children of sin."

That is the perfect ending for this one. I love the very last line.
