Faded To Winter

Faded To Winter

A Poem by Ryn

The kettle whistles as the water boils
You're lying in our bed
Black brown hair sprawled out across the pillows
Like spider webs
Tangle me up
That old gray sweater slides off your shoulder
The snow falls quietly outside on the window pane
Gently frosting up the windows
I bring you your tea
And I kiss your one bared shoulder
The bitter winter steals the sunshine from your skin
Your unfinished hat sits on the rocking chair in the corner
Where you left it last night
The twilight casts golden hues across the white room
The feeble light wants to warm the walls
Your face cast in a gilded light
Hair in your eyes
And a longing on your face
You miss the warmth of summer
A sudden shiver breathes through you
You sip your tea
And reach for me
Pull me under the sea of blankets
The summer's faded to winter
But we have each other to keep warm
