WithoutA Poem by Rylan_lThis a collage poem for my creative writing class. It is a combination of a news article, a memory, and a description of nature. The pieces from the article are, for the most part, directly taken.Without The drought goes on… The paralyzed puppets stand… Winter sets in. Seventeen rural communities drought-stricken: California in danger of a severe water shortage within four months, according to state officials... one district may soon have to truck in water. The rumble of the silence, so intangible, Covers us, smothers us. Who will break the still, And start the fuss? The air is cold, my breath is shown, The white blanket sighs beneath me, And the trees lie bare. The world is quiet, Hidden under the wind's hungry howl, And there’s no one to care. A storm expected to drop light and
moderate rains on
Northern California Wednesday
and Thursday… won't help
much. Wells are running dry, reservoirs are nearly empty. We are tangled together: Our words, our hearts, our arms. Goodbye, like an unutterable curse. But goodbye, it must be… Goodbye. The snowflakes fall, the clouds cluster The animals cower away for warmth; And I make snow angels alone. The cold is harsh, but the scene beautiful. The wind dances with the snow, And we, too, must learn to dance, cold to the bone. © 2014 Rylan_l |
